Club Captains

Alan Stokes Club Captain

It is an honour and a privilege to have been elected Captain for the year 2018 and as well as welcoming you to our website I would invite you all to come along and test your skills on our ever-improving course. You will receive a warm welcome from all our staff and hopefully relax and enjoy the traditional hospitality which Okehampton Golf Club prides itself on.

When I joined Okehampton Golf Club in 2009, having just retired from the Royal Navy, I found a very friendly and accommodating membership with a good challenging golf course. This is the embodiment of what Okehampton Golf Club is all about and I hope to meet and play with as many of you as possible during my Captaincy. Our Course, Catering, Professionals & Management are, in my opinion, second to none.

My chosen charity for the year is Guide Dogs for the Blind which I hope will be supported by you all.

Here’s to a successful 2018!

Lt Cdr Alan Stokes RN (Retd)

Sue Williams
Lady Captain

So, you are reading the Ladies Captain section of the website. May I introduce myself. Our merry band of ladies in their wisdom chose me, Sue Williams to be their Lady Captain for 2018. Do they know what they have let themselves in for? In the words of the past club captain, I am “as mad as a box of frogs”. So I am expecting this year to be a lot of fun, with plenty of laughter and lots of great golf. The ladies section at Okehampton is small but perfectly formed. We are a friendly and supportive bunch. We encourage newcomers and love to see new faces amongst our number, so any would-be lady members please feel free to make contact and come and give golf a try. I warn you, it is addictive!
